HISTORY:  philip@philipsealey.co.uk

Philip Sealey is the director of the company and is the principal professional providing the company's services. We are a small practice with a total of 5 staff including administration.

Philip left grammar school in 1972 and worked for various local authorities within their Building Control Departments. He began as a trainee, progressing to the position of a Chief Building Control Officer when he was responsible for administering the Building Control function for a local authority. During this time he gained experience of a wide variety of building types and techniques, as he enforced the minimum construction standards laid down in the Building Regulations, originally under the Public Health Acts and later the Building Act. He worked for 5 different local authorities for 16 years. His experience includes residential, industrial and commercial property of all types.

In 1988 Philip left local government and joined Prudential Property Services as a Building Surveyor. He was soon promoted to be the Building Surveying Director responsible for 27 Building Surveyors throughout the country.

After 5 years Prudential Assurance Company sold Prudential Property Services to Scottish Widows. Philip became a Building Surveyor with Connell Residential Estate Agents, a subsidiary of Scottish Widows.

Philip was quickly promoted to be the Building Surveying Director responsible for a national Building Surveying service.

In April 1998 he set up his own company as Philip Sealey Chartered Surveyors.

During the early years of his employment Philip continued his education. He obtained an O.N.C. in Building and an H.N.C. in Building Technology. He was also accepted as a full professional associate of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (R.I.C.S.) by direct examination. In 1994 he was promoted to be a Fellow of the R.I.C.S.

Philip is also a member of the Institute of Building Control, the Association of Building Engineers and a member of the Architects and Surveyors Institute.

During his time in the private sector Philip has been responsible for designing and supervising portal frame industrial units, office buildings up to 3 storeys, as well as numerous extensions. He has prepared major planned maintenance surveys for water companies and housing associations. He has advised on fire precautions and means of escape for multi storey buildings up to 14 storeys high as well as numerous hospitals and other health authority buildings. He has worked as a Planning supervisor responsible for Health and Safety on numerous contracts. He has also acted as a Party Wall Surveyor on many occasions dealing mainly with town centre redevelopment sites but also domestic situations.

We undertake work throughout England and Wales with occasional contracts in Scotland.

This experience gained over the past 28 years, together with Court Room appearances, acting as expert witness, ensures that the company is providing expert advice for any concerns about building related matters.  Top of page
